Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Thursday (June 27) while talking to reporters in Islamabad said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to meet US President Donald Trump during his next month visit.
Qureshi told reporters that Trump had extended an invitation to Premier Imran. However, the prime minister could not travel to Washington because of the budget session. Official sources said that the meeting between the two leaders is expected to take place in on July 20. Efforts for arranging the Imran-Trump meeting have been going on for months.
Some officials linked the two leaders’ summit with the possible positive outcome of the ongoing efforts seeking a peace deal in Afghanistan. Sources further said that the back door diplomacy is working and final date of PM Imran visit will be decided soon.
