After scrapping Occupied Kashmir’s special status by abolishing article 370 of the Indian Constitution, now Indian forces have launched crackdown against innocent Kashmiris. As a result of brutalities, over 500 political leaders including Almost all Hurriyat leaders including the All Parties Hurriyat Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, and the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and workers have been detained and some of them are under house arrest.
Political leaders and activists across the political spectrum have been detained in Srinagar as well as other parts of the Valley. As per the latest reports, about 560 such workers have been lodged in makeshift detention centres in Srinagar, Baramulla, Gurez and other areas, as jails and police stations of the valley were already overcrowded with the lodgment of hundreds of Hurriyat leaders and activists already booked under false cases.
Pro-India politicians like Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and Sajjad Lone – who always advanced India’s interests in the territory even at the cost of the sufferings of the Kashmiri people – and detained them.
As per reports, all educational institutions are closed while the entire population is facing global communication blockage as it has no contact with the external world through internet or telephone. The local press is seems to be totally under control as newspapers have been banned from publishing and even newspapers failed to update their online editions. People are facing shortage of daily commodities including milk, dairy items and medicines. Curfew also remained imposed in all major cities and towns of Chenab valley districts in Jammu region.
