The Indian Navy’s Chetak chopper helicopter crashed after developing a technical failure in Arabian Sea last week, the naval branch of the Indian Armed Forces disclosed on Tuesday.
Navy said the well trained naval aircrew prevented a major “catastrophe” when the helicopter ditched at the Arabian Sea. The helicopter was a part of an Indian naval warship.
“As per reports, the helicopter developed technical failure prior to ditching and the crew displayed immense professional prowess and sound training in deftly landing the helicopter in the water and successfully egressing from it,” the Navy said.
All three crew members were safe, the Navy added.
