Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik have been arrested by Indian occupation forces to stop them leading a march towards Badami Bagh in Srinagar. They both defied restrictions and tried to lead a protest demonstration. According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), the call for the march was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership against the massacre carried out by Indian occupation forces in Pulwama.
The Hurriyat leadership and other groups announced to organise a march towards military headquarters in Srinagar. The occupied forces launched massive crackdown to stop the March taking place. All sort of repressive measures were taken by the Indian forces.
Indian occupation forces have placed the entire Hurriyat leadership including Syed Ali Gilani and Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai either under house arrest or in jails to prevent them from leading the march.The authorities imposed curfew-like restrictions in Srinagar and adjoining areas and used brute force on protesters to prevent the protest march. Police and paramilitary forces put up barricades in various parts of Srinagar and on the roads leading to the headquarters.
Indian forces used brute force and fired teargas shells on the protesters. Clashes were reported between protesters and occupied forces in Maisuma and other areas.
Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed on the third consecutive day in all districts of the Kashmir valley and in Khari, Bhadarwah, Doda, Thathri, Gandoh, Ramban, Kishtwar, Poonch and others areas of Jammu region.
All shops, business establishments, government offices and banks were closed while traffic was off the roads. The authorities suspended mobile internet and train services in the Indian occupied Kashmir valley.
