Indian tennis ace and wife of Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, Sania Mirza exercised her right to vote on Friday in Telangana assembly elections. She cast her vote in Hyderabad. She took to Twitter and share picture of her inked finger. “Be a part of your democracy. Right and duty to vote,” tennis icon Sania Mirza tweeted.
Star power was on full display at polling booths in on Friday’s polling as Telangana votes in the assembly elections. Many leading actors in this South Indian state went to polling booths to exercise their democratic right of vote.
In Telangana, India’s youngest state which voted for the second time today, exit polls show Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao’s gamble of dissolving the state assembly eight months before the expiry of assembly term paying off. The TRS will get 67 of the state’s 119 assembly seats, where the majority mark is at 61. The Congress-Chandrababu Naidu combine will get 39 seats and the BJP five seats.
So it is mostly likely that KCR will return as winner and continue to rule Telangana state. Congress will have to wait much longer to make a comeback in this state and to form a government.
