Following the recommendations of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Interior ministry has placed name of Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) and President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif on Exit Control List (ECL), barring him from travelling abroad due to the ongoing case against him for owning assets beyond means. The decision was taken after approval of federal cabinet.
Earlier on February 19, Shehbaz’s name was placed on the provisional national identification list (PNIL) or ‘stop list’. ‘The accused has accumulated assets beyond his known sources of income through corruption & corrupt practices,’ NAB stated in its request.
The Lahore High Court on Thursday (Feb 14) approved Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif’s bail petitions in Ashiana and Ramzan Sugar Mills scandal and directed to release the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader.
