Inzamam-ul-Haq announced to step down from the post of the chief selector for men’s cricket team after July 30. Addressing the media at Qaddafi Stadium, Inzamam said: “I did not want to continue with my position. I joined in 2016 and have spent a good time here.”
“Now, I have decided that new people should come, with new thinking and ideas,” he added. “I thank the board and other members who respected my choices,” chief selector said.
When asked if he would take on another role in the management, Haq said: “If the board offers me another role, apart from selection, I would consider it.” He, however, said that the board has not made him any offer as yet.
Inzamam expressed satisfaction over the team’s performance in the World Cup 2019. “We were unlucky to have not qualified for the semi-final but the players gave their best,” he said.
