In Occupied Kashmir, Grand Mufti of the territory, Mufti Bashir-ud-Din passed away on Tuesday (Feb 12). He was 82. Mufti Bashiruddin was hospitalised on Monday evening after he complained of chest pain, his family said.
He breathed his last at Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar late night after brief illness. The funeral prayers for the Grand Mufti, led by his son Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, were held in afternoon at Khanqah-e-Moula in the downtown at 3.30 pm. T
Bashiruddin was the Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir for over three decades. He got a masters degree in Arabic and a law degree from Aligarh Muslim University before pursuing religious education. He was a staunch supporter of ongoing Kashmir freedom movement.
