A day after Iran marked its 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, at least twenty three members of elite Revolutionary Guards were killed and seven sustained injuries in a suicide attack targeting a bus transporting the security force, on the road between the southeastern cities of Zahedan and Khash today. A separatist group called Jaish al-Adl, or Army of Justice, has claimed responsibility, according to state-run news agency.
“This incident will not damage the resolute will of the people in defending the Islamic revolution, and the national resolve for an unrelenting battle against terrorism will become more resolute than ever,” said Iranian Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, according to the Iranian Students’ News Agency. “The self-sacrificing military and intelligence children of the people of Iran will take revenge for the blood of the martyrs of this incident,” Qassemi said.
