At least one student lost his life and 31 other sustained injuries when clashes erupted between Islami Jamiat Tulba and the Saraiki Student Federation during a function at the International Islamic University, Islamabad on Thursday (Dec 12) night.
As the clash intensifies, both grouped opened fire and started chanted slogans against each other. Police and rangers have reached the spot to tackle the situation. As per reports, security forces are carrying out raids in hostels to recovers weapons and arrest of the culprits, involved in this incident. Police has arrested over 70 students and shifted them to an unknown location.
A senior police officer told local news channel that, “We have reached the university and are waiting for the AC or magistrate to come. Permission from the university administration is required for the police to enter the premises”.
According to media reports, deceased student was identified as Tufailur Rehman and Miraj Khattak, Muhammad Usama, Jammal Cheema, Muaz Saeed, Faisal and Irfan were among the wounded students.
This incident came after clashes between lawyers and doctors in Punjab institute of Cardiology in Lahore, in which claimed the lives of 5 people and left several injured.
