Defending champions Islamabad United on Friday (Feb 22) beat Peshawar Zalmi by 12 runs in the 11th match of the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Sharjah cricket stadium.
Batting first, Islamabad United set a victory target of 159 runs for Peshawar Zalmi. IR Bell was the top scorer with 54 runs of 46 balls, while CS Delport scored 29 runs of 18 balls. United’s 18-year-old Muhammad Musa with his sensational three-for-23 runs spell scripted 12 runs win at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Later, Islamabad’s skipper Sami recorded a phenomenal hattrick in the last over of the game, with the dismissals of Wahab Riaz, Umaid Asif and Hasan Ali in the death overs. He gave 22 runs in his spell.
In chase of 159-run target, the Zalmi were reeling at 65-5 at one stage. Kieron Pollard and Darren Sammy steadied the side with their 55-run partnership. The side’s hopes of winnings were dashed after Pollard departed after scoring 51 runs. Mohammad Sami bagged a hat-trick in the last over of the game to secure a 12-run victory for his side.
