Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Athar Minallah, said Thursday while hearing a bail petition filed by PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal that the court would issue a detailed judgment regarding the powers of the president of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for issuing arrest warrants because he noted that the arrest of someone without any solid evidence is a violation of basic human rights.
A two-member bench of the Islamabad high court comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Lubna Saleem Pervez was hearing two petitions seeking post-arrest bail for former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal. The bench adjourned both hearings to Feb 20 as the court needs time in determining the powers of arrest vested in the NAB chairman.
