Jim Steinman, a veteran American composer, died at the age of 73.
Jim died of kidney failure on Monday, according to his brother, according to the Associated Press. He had been sick for a long time. He said, “I already miss him a lot.”
Jim Steinman’s songs include Bat out of Hell and Total Eclipse of the Heart. His operatic productions are also well-known. He rose to fame as a member of the rock band Meat Loaf.
His 1977 album Bat Out of Hell was one of the most successful albums at the time. It has sold over 50 million copies all over the world. In 2017, the album was adapted into a stage musical.
For his work on Celine Dion’s Falling Into You, Jim won the Grammy for Album of the Year. In 1998, he also worked on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s masterpiece Whistle Down The Wind.
“There has never been another songwriter like him,” Meat Loaf said of Jim Steinman.
“I’ll never be able to repay him. Mr. Jim Steinman has had such an impact on my life, in truth, he has had the greatest impact on my life, and I have gained so much from him that there is no way I could ever repay him.”
