According to the media reports, Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JUD) chief Hafiz Saeed has been arrested by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) today. Hafiz Saeed was travelling from Lahore to Gujranwala when the arrest took place.
CTD or Punjab government has so far provided no details of his arrest. Police sources has confirmed his arrest but declined to comment on the matter.
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore had granted pre-arrest bail to the JUD chief and three others on Monday in a case pertaining to the outfit’s alleged illegal use of land for its seminary.
The Punjab police on July 03 booked top 13 leaders of the banned JUD, including Hafiz Saeed and his Deputy Emir Abdul Rehman Makki, were booked in nearly two dozen cases for terror financing and money laundering under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
