The JUI-F Challenge Prime Minister to file a complaint against Maulana Fazlur Rehman for treason case while the opposition lawmakers denounced the call of Imran Khan to try the JUI-F’s chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman under article 6 of the Constitution for an attempt to “topple” the government.
The National Assembly echoed with a strong reaction from the opposition members to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement and challenged the government “to do it if it could”. Opposition unanimously raised voice against any such move of the government against Maulana Fazl.
PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said, the government would stop to a new low in the victimization of its political rivals, it would be unfair with Maulana Fazl and Khawaja Asif if a treason case was made against them.
He added that “Ex-SSP Karachi Rao Anwar and TTP’s former spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan has been allowed to escape, while the government is talking about trying Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Khawaja Asif for treason.”
Further, he said, the ruler was talking about making of treason cases against him and Maulana Fazl only to divert attention from the unprecedented price hike in the country. “A treason case should be made against them [PTI leaders] who had attacked PTV headquarters.”
Maulana Fazl’s son, Maulana Asad Mehmood declared on the floor of the house that article 6 of the Constitution should not apply to the Maulana, but on what he called the selected Prime Minister. “I challenge you to make charges against us. We will not do what they want, ”he added.
