Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the fake bank accounts case related to the company JV Opal 255, a joint endeavor of real estate mogul Malik Riaz and Ex-president Asif Ali Zardari, and cautioned the legislature that his party would not endure what he called “monetary slaughter” of individuals. PPP Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokar had confirmed Bilawal’s appearance before the accountability bureau.
“PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will appear before the NAB despite the fact that the NAB’s opinion is only political victimization. PPP president believes in the rule of law in the land,” Khokar said.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari claimed that the former chief justice of Pakistan had declared him an “innocent” man; in case he was arrested his sister Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari would become his voice. But according to Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability, Shahzad Akbar said Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had never been declared innocent by anyone.
According to NAB official summoning of the PPP chairman was a step towards action against the main shareholder [Malik Riaz of Bahria Town] of the firm.
Mr. Bhutto-Zardari appeared for the third time before the anti-watchdog. He was given a questionnaire containing 35 questions which he must answer in two weeks.
The NAB previously called him last year on May 29 to register his statement in the money laundering case. He had also been summoned on May 17 in connection with the Park Lane case.
