On Thursday, in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar neighbourhood, two women got injured after being caught in a crossfire between police and suspected criminals,
Police said the incident took place in Rabia City area, where police personnel on a routine patrol signaled suspicious-looking motorcyclists to pull over. Instead of stopping, they opened fire at the police team in an attempt to flee and two passersby were shot and wounded. The police retaliated but the accused managed to escape.
One of the two wounded women was shot in the hand while the other a small bullet in the arm. Both are said to be out of danger.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East testified that, according to women’s statements, the suspects opened fire and caused injuries.
He added that one of the suspects, who was shot in the back, was arrested when he arrived at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for treatment.
