At least three people were killed and 86 others sustained injuries as intense dust storm ripped in Karachi bringing life to a dusty halt, dispersing sand around the city and downing trees in some areas.
As per details, the wind was so strong that it knocked out power cables in some localities, cutting off electricity of many areas including North Nazimabad, New Karachi, Sarjani Town, Nusrat Bhutto Colony, Shah Faisal Colony, Azizabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and other areas.
Meanwhile, Sindh Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani has directed all the local bodies’ officials to stay alert in view of the weather forecasts of thunderstorm and heavy rains.
In a statement in Karachi today, Provincial Minister has directed all the workers to stay in field fully prepared to deal with any situation. The Local Government Minister has also directed to keep liaison with all the related departments and K-Electric to ensure immediate help in case of breakage of electric wires in any area.
