The Supreme Court’s three member bench comprising Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Umar Ata Bandial, on Tuesday (Feb 26) during the hearing of a case pertaining to illegal land occupation in Karachi, ordered the anti-encroachment drive should continue in the metropolis.
During the hearing, advocate general Sindh told the court that “We took experts from opinions in a conference held on January 1. If we took action without consulting, then a human tragedy can occur. Therefore we request the court to give us an extension for planning and action.”
Justice Musheer Alam remarked “Restaurants and small businesses have sprung up on small plots. There is no place to walk in the streets. It is the SBCS’s job to ensure to restore the city to its original state but it has failed to do so.”
