PML-N leader and former defense minister, Khawaja Asif on Sunday (Feb 10) while speaking to the media at his residence in Sialko, strongly criticized the Prime Minister Imran Khan for approaching International Monetary Fund (IMF) foe another bailout package.
“It is the first time in the history of Pakistan that a prime minister is the first one to approach the International Monetary Fund,” he said. “Previously, they wanted to commit suicide in case they had to approach the IMF.” Asif continued, “Imran Khan has yet to act upon what he has been saying for 22 years. Economic advisers are leaving him now and for the first time, a prime minister is going to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for money. He [Imran] himself had said it is better to commit suicide than go to IMF for money.”
He also warned the government for the consequences if Shehbaz Sharif removed as Public Accounts Committee, he said “All the opposition parties unanimously decided his name for the post,” he said. “The government believes that his removal from the accounts committee will benefit them.” In reality, however, it will cause more harm, he added. “We do not want to climb on containers, we can also paralyse the entire country.”
