Accountability court judge Syed Najamul Hassan on Saturday (Jan 5) extended the physical remand of former railway minister Khwaja Saad Rafique and his brother Khwaja Salman Rafique till January 19.
Saad Rafique while speaking outside an accountability court said that country is in hands of incompetent people, adding that the Imran government has pushed the country to crisis. “The coming budget is bringing massive inflation,” he said. “The people of Pakistan will soon get rid of the civil dictatorship present in the country.” “Times will change and they will change soon. We are not corrupt, our conscience is clear.”
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Saad Rafique and his brother Salman Rafique in connection to the Paragon Housing Society scam. Earlier in a press release, NAB Lahore stated, “Accused Saad Rafique along with his benamidaar wife Ghazala Saad Rafique, brother Salman Rafique in association with Qaiser Amin Butt and Nadeem Zia established a housing project in the name of Air Avenue which was converted into a new housing project namely M/S Paragon City Pvt Limited. Record shows that M/S Paragon City is an illegal society.” “Accused in collusion, connivance and collaboration of Qaiser Amin Butt and Nadeem Zia cheated the members of public at large and obtained illegal pecuniary benefits from the funds of said illegal housing project,” it added.
