On friday Lahore Qalandars lost by 4 wickets from Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in their first tour match at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.
From MCC side all rounder Ravi Bopara batted extraordinarily well and scored 42 runs off 37 balls to lead the visiting side from the front. Samit Patel made 31 off 22 balls.
Lahore Qalandars while batting first, Qalandars’ batting collapsed after a good opening start between Fakhar Zaman and Salman Butt as they were bundled for just 135-5 in 20 overs.
Zaman (45) and Butt (28) both scored 42 runs together for the first wicket. Skipper Sohail Akhtar, in the end, supported his team with the bat and scored 40 runs off 28 balls.
From visitors side, Roelof Van der Marwe was the highest wicket-taker and he finished with 2-17 in his four overs. Michael Leask and Fred Klassen shared a wicket each.
Chasing target of just 135, MCC lost two consecutive wickets earlier at the total of 13 runs. Apart from Bopara and Patel, Sangakkara scored 25 runs.
Mohammad Faizan was the highest wicket-taker from Qalandars with 2 for 19.
