On Monday, Lahore High Court resumed hearing a petition filed against the continued detention of Jang Geo Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman, where it ordered the National Accountability Bureau to submit a new response in the case.
A two-member bench of the court heard the case concerning the arrest and the extension of the pre-trial detention of the experienced journalist. At the previous hearing, the court asked NAB to provide explanations, in the form of clauses, to the issues raised by the court.

Earlier, NAB was arrested Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman in Lahore in the sense of an acquisition of a 54-Kanal piece of property. NAB sources said the institution has found evidence against Nawaz Sharif in Mir Shakil’s land scam case. NAB wants to interrogate Nawaz about why he had approved the allotment of the land to Rahman in violation of rules.
During the hearing, Barrister Aitezaz Ahsan presented arguments, maintaining that the NAB summoned MSR on March 3, along with documents. “NAB then adjourned the proceedings until March 12,” he said, adding that his client had asked the bureau to hand him over the questions.
Upon appearance on March 12, the arrest warrants of MSR were issued from Karachi While referring to the extension in the remand the accountability court did not mention the reasons behind the decision. said the lawyer.
The court, subsequently, adjourned the case until Thursday, while asking NAB to submit a fresh response in the proceedings.
