Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Monday (Sep 30) approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) for grant of bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.
In the petition, it is stated that Maryam Nawaz is being subjected to political revenge and that the anti-corruption watchdog has not found single evidence against her. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested me by violating the law as my all properties and assets are declared, she has stated in her bail plea and claimed that she is being politically victimized.
Maryam Nawaz, in a petition, further requested the court to release her from the jail.
Earlier, an accountability court on September 25, sent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz and managing director at Sharif Group of Industries and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s nephew Yousaf Abbas to jail on judicial remand in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.
During the hearing, the court had rejected National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) plea to extend physical remand of the PML-N vice president and Yousaf Abbas. The NAB investigating officer told the court that during the investigation they had found out about an agreement for the division of family assets.
On August 8, NAB team had detained Maryam Nawaz outside the Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore for skipping appearance in Chaudhry Sugar Mills due to meeting with her father and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
