China’s Ambassador to India Luo Zhaohui Sunday (March 17) expressed optimism that the Masood Azhar’s matter will be resolved. His statement came after China put technical hold on a resolution seeking a ban on Jaish-e-Mohammad chief, Maulana Masood Azhar,
“We are optimistic that this matter will be resolved,” Luo said on the sidelines of an event at the Chinese embassy in New Delhi. “Regarding Masood Azhar, we fully understand and we fully believe this matter,” he said, adding China understands India’s concerns and he was optimistic that the matter would be resolved.
Earlier China once again blocked a move at the Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee of UN Security Council seeking a ban on Jaish-e-Mohammad chief, Maulana Masood Azhar. A note issued by China’s UN mission to the concerned UN Security Council Committee says China placed a “technical hold” on the request, made by the United States, Britain and France on behest of India to subject Maulana Masood Azhar to an arms embargo, travel ban and asset freeze. China had also blocked a similar move three times in the past.
