The downpours which hit Lahore on late Wednesday (July 23) night have flooded the roads across the city into drains, barring traffic to flow freely.
According to met office, 124mm and 108mm rain were recorded in Tajpur and Chowk Nakhuda, respectively. 104mm in Pani Wala Talab, 74mm in Airport area, 68mm in Farrukhabad and 57mm in Gulshan Ravi, met office said. In Lahore, traffic jams were observed on the Mall road and other main thoroughfares of the city, causing trouble to commuters.
Moreover, several feeders of LESCO tripped owing to continuous downpour. However, authorities are yet to be seen in action to improve the worsened scenarios across numerous national highways in the city.
Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Sargodha are also expected to be inundated by water collected from the rains. Moreover, high floods are expected in the upstream of Mangla, River Chenab and Indus. Separately, an alert has been issued by the weather office to concerned authorities, advising them to take precautionary measures.
