Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday(July 19) has approved pre-arrest bail of former finance minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Miftah Ismail in liquefied natural gas (LNG) case. The PML-N stalwart, in his protective bail plea, stated that he was ready to face National Accountability Bureau (NAB) inquiries but feared that the Anti-graft body’s actions are based on “dishonesty”, therefore, he should be granted pre-arrest bail to avoid getting arrested.
A special team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday (July 18) raided former finance minister Miftah Ismail home aimed to arrest him in a multi-billion rupees LNG scam, but the team yet not allowed him to enter home. NAB Chairman Javed Iqbal Thursday signed arrest warrants of Miftah Ismail in LNG scandal.
The development came following arrest of former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi by NAB in LNG case. He has been ‘accused of commission of the offense of corruption and corrupt practices’.
