New Zealand’s Mike Hesson has turned down Pakistan’s head coach role offered by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and did not apply for the job, reported New Zealand media on Wednesday.
According to the reports, the former Kiwi coach is not interested in coaching Pakistan or Bangladesh, whereas, he was looking forward to work with India in the capacity of the head coach, however, they have retained Ravi Shastri for the position.
After Pakistan’s World Cup 2019 debacle, the PCB has decided not to extend the current coaching staff’s contracts on the recommendation of the cricket committee. The coaching staff included head coach Mickey Arthur, bowling coach Azhar Mehmood, batting coach Grant Flower and the trainer Grant Luden.
Pakistan’s most successful captain Misbah Ul Haq has emerged as the favourite contender to replace Arthur as the head coach of the national team. Moreover, there are reports that he might also get responsibilities of the chief selector.
