Prime Minister Imran Khan, during a high level meeting called for efforts to curb money laundering, has said that people who are involved in money laundering will be exposed before public. “Elements involved in money laundering deserve no clemency and they will be exposed in front of the public,” Imran Khan said
Other high level officials including Minister for Finance Asad Umar, Special Assistant to PM Shehzad Akbar, Special Assistant to PM Iftikhar Durrani, Governor State Bank Tariq Bajwa, secretary interior, Federal Board Revenue (FBR) chairman, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) chief, director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
The SBP governor briefed that the central bank imposed a fine of Rs247 million on six different banks due to fake accounts, and investigations are under way against 109 officers.
