An accountability court indicted the President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Opposition leader in National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif and his family members in a money laundering case.
The accountability court read out charges to Shehbaz, his son Hamza and other accused, who denied the charges and opted to contest them. Jail authorities produced the Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz before the court as it resumed hearing.
Shehbaz Sharif while pleading innocence stated that the case instituted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is based on mala fide intentions.
Shehbaz Sharif said higher courts raised questions over the NAB’s actions, accusing the anti moneyl laundering watchdog of being involved in “political engineering”. “Not a shred of evidence against us has been produced,” Shehbaz said
The President of PML-N who is also Opposition leader in National Assembly complained of a backache, lamenting that he has not yet been provided a physiotherapist. “I was taken to hospital yesterday just because the hearing is fixed today,” Shehbaz Sharif maintained.
He further added that “I asked for an ambulance to take me to hospital but instead was taken in an armoured personnel vehicle,”
