In order to express solidarity with former President Pervez Musharraf, who was awarded death sentence in high treason case, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has announced to hold a big rally on Sunday (Dec 22).
MQM-P convener and Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui made the announcement in a press conference while raising questions regarding the decision against Pervez Musharraf. He demanded the chief justice to take notice of the language that has been used in the detailed verdict of the case and said it hurt the feelings of the nation. All the blame has been put on a single person, he said.
The special court’s detailed verdict in high treason case against former military chief and president, Pervez Musharraf, has drawn an outcry in across the country as Pakistan Army has also expressed displeasure over the unethical and inhumane verdict.
The clause 66 stoked another controversy with the use of inflammatory and derogatory comments against the former president. The detailed verdict issued in the treason case against General Musharraf has shocked people especially the armed forces of Pakistan. The orders penned down in the verdict were hair raising.
“We direct the law enforcement agencies to strive their level best to apprehend the fugitive/convict (Musharraf) and to ensure that the punishment is inflicted as per law and if found dead, his corpse be dragged to the D-Chowk, Islamabad, Pakistan and be hanged for 03 days,” it further says. D-Chowk, also referred to as Democracy Chowk (crossing), is a large square located on the junction of Jinnah Avenue and Constitution Avenue in Islamabad and is a notorious place for rallies and protests.
