A model court in Lahore while announcing its verdict in slain social media star Qandeel Baloch’s murder case, acquitted controversial suspect Mufti Abdul Qavi and sentenced life Imprisonment to slain’s brother Wasim Khan.
As per detail’s, court sentenced Waseem despite his parents request to acquit him in murder case. On the other hand, Qandeel’s other two brothers, Aslam Shaheen and Arif were acquitted in the case.
In 2016, Qandeel was murdered by his brother on the name of honour. In a case filed by her father Muhammad Azeem Baloch, Waseem, along with his brothers Aslam Shaheen, Arif and Haq Nawaz were hold responsible for murder of Baloch.
Earlier, Qandeel’s father stated in his affidavit that the case of Qandeel’s murder was recorded on July 16, 2016, while the law on honor was amended on October 22, 2016.
The modification of the law of honor 311 was made later. Therefore, the new law is not applicable to this case. The accused must be acquitted in accordance with article 345 of the criminal procedure. The model court judge summoned prosecutors and lawyers to testify about the affidavit presented by Qandeel’s father for forgiving his two sons involved in the Qandeel murder case
