Multan Sultans becomes Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 6 champions as they beat Peshawar Zalmi by 47 runs.
While sent into bat in an all-important final, Multan Sultans’ openers Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood provided a solid opening start of 68-1. Masood scored 37 before falling to Mohammad Imran on a slower delivery. He struck 6 boundaries.
Sultan’s skipper Mohammad Rizwan made run-a-ball 30 runs including 2 boundaries and a six.
Sohaib Maqsood and Rossouw joined the crease when Sultans were 83-2. They carried their team from there and added 98 runs together to help post 181-2 in 18.1 overs, Sohaib Maqsood and
Rilee Rossouw smashed 98 runs together to set the tone for Multan Sultans to win their maiden title of Pakistan Supper League (PSL), Both of them helped their team to put a massive score 206-4.
Sohaib Maqsood scored his 5th PSL 6 fifty and remained not out for 65 runs with 6 boundaries and 3 sixes in his account.
Rilee Rossouw smashed maiden PSL 6 fifty and got out after scoring 50 off 21 balls laced with 5 boundaries and 3 sixes.
Khushdil Shah played a quick knock of 15 off 5 balls spread over 2 sixes.
For Peshawar Zalmi, Imran and Sameen Gul picked 2 wickets each.
While chasing the target Peshawar Zalmi lost in form hard hitter Hazratullah Zazai after he stayed for long at the non-striker’s end.
The pressure was built up on Zazai and the short ball outside off by Blessing Muzarabani did the work for Multan Sultans as they got rid of the dangerous man.
Kamran Akmal provided a solid start from his bat, playing the majority of the powerplay and scoring 36 off 28 balls with the help of 5 boundaries and a six.
The veteran Shoaib Malik stayed strong and outplayed a couple of bowlers in the middle but a slow bouncer from Sohail Tanvir removed him in a crunch moment. He scored 66 runs alongside Rovman Powell for the 4th wicket. Powell managed to score 23 off 14 balls with the help of 2 boundaries and a six.
Shoaib Malik fought hard with his 48 runs but other Zalmi batters couldn’t contain the rhythm in front of potent Multan Sultans’ attack.
Imran Tahir bagged 3 wickets, Imran Khan Sr and Muzarabani took 2 wickets each while Sohail Tanvir picked 1 wicket.
