Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah said that the entire government apparatus, including local authorities, was active on the roads to evacuate the rain water, Afer Realizing water stagnation in several areas of Karachi.
Shah said while speaking to the media that all major nullahs in Karachi have been encroached at one place or the other. “The nullahs, which were large enough to carry the water, their width has been reduced to hardly a few feet since people established their homes, despite the congestion on nullahs, the government has cleaned them.”
The CM, accompanied by the Minister of Local Government Saeed Ghani, the Minister of Special Taxes Mukesh Chawla, Dr. Sarosh Lodhi, the Vice Chancellor of NED, the Commissioner of Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani, the Special Secretary of Local Government Niaz Soomro began his visit by Sharae Faisal and stopped on the Turn towards Tariq Road, where a large ditch formed after the collapse of an underground water pipe. The Chief Minister asked Asadullah Khan, General Manager (MD) of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), to repair it immediately, otherwise rainwater would seep into the area, neighboring buildings and damage them.
