Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth, who wrote the decision of high treason case came under fire for using harsh and cruel words against former President Pervez Musharraf. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insag government has decided on Thursday to file a reference against Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth.
The government’s legal team has said that para 66 in the detailed verdict which states that the former president should be dragged to D-Chowk and hanged for three days straight, is a human violation and also against to the legal limits. “The special court’s verdict has created a sense of anarchy in the country. This verdict negates the law, shariah and human rights,” the legal team added.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has also tasked his legal team to present the government’s reply on special court’s verdict. The special court’s detailed verdict in high treason case against former military chief and president, Pervez Musharraf, has drawn an outcry in across the country as Pakistan Army has also expressed displeasure over the unethical and inhumane verdict.
The clause 66 stoked another controversy with the use of inflammatory and derogatory comments against the former president. The detailed verdict issued in the treason case against General Musharraf has shocked people especially the armed forces of Pakistan. The orders penned down in the verdict were hair raising.
“We direct the law enforcement agencies to strive their level best to apprehend the fugitive/convict (Musharraf) and to ensure that the punishment is inflicted as per law and if found dead, his corpse be dragged to the D-Chowk, Islamabad, Pakistan and be hanged for 03 days,” it further says. D-Chowk, also referred to as Democracy Chowk (crossing), is a large square located on the junction of Jinnah Avenue and Constitution Avenue in Islamabad and is a notorious place for rallies and protests.
On the other hand, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor on Thursday (Dec 19) while addressing a press conference, gave a strong reaction on behalf of Pakistan Army in detailed verdict of Pervez Musharraf’s high treason case and termed the verdict as Unethical and Inhumane.
