The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday (June 27) approved a bail plea filed by Muhammad Mushtaq alias Cheeni, an alleged front man of PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif’s sons. A bench comprising of Justice Ali Baqir Najfi and Justice Sardar Ahmed Naeem presided over the hearing of his bail plea.
Reportedly, Cheeni told the court that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore had arrested him in an inquiry pertaining to a corruption case, and subsequently he has become an approver against Hamza Shehbaz and Salman Shehbaz. However, Cheeni’s counsel said that his client had become an approver in the case and had recorded his confessional statement under Section 26 of the National Accountability Ordinance before a judicial magistrate on June 17, 2019.
Earlier, Chini has handed over details and information of 37 transactions through two private banks to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore. Adding that he had transferred Rs600 million into the account of Salman Shahbaz. Millions of rupees from abroad were transferred into Mushtaq’s account. More than Rs500 millions were transferred to the PML-N leader’s account from five different accounts of Mushtaq.
