National Assembly (NA) standing committee on human rights has approved the Zainab alert and response recovery bill 2019. The bill will also introduce a response and recovery mechanism for missing children to prevent incidents such as the murder of Zainab, a nine-year-old from Kasur.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari chaired a huddle of the NA standing committee on human rights while the committee approved Zeenab alert and response and recovery bill 2019.
Member of the committee Mehreen Razaq Bhutto said that the Human rights minister is in doubt while the bill not delayed due to the committee adding that the bill amended 45 times. Chairman Committee Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that they will demand the speaker to allow members a time to read the bill.
Earlier, At a meeting of a subcommittee of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Human Rights, its chair Dr. Mahreen Razaq Bhutto had said: “The purpose is to stop the crime and protect our children in the future. One of the main focuses was on the punishment for molesting and murdering children. It is a special law, therefore the punishment is especially harsh. The purpose is to make such convicts realise their unforgivable crime in the harshest conditions until the day they die.”
