The National Accountability Bureau has decided to take an action against Federal Minister of Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhary over his controversial statements on ongoing accountability process against corrupt mafia.
The decision of action was taken after Fawad while speaking to a local channel’s program said that it was the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, and not NAB, that was carrying out accountability in the country. However, NAB has rejected his statements and NAB Chairman ordered a strict action against Chaudhary.
In a press release issued on Friday (June 21) , the Bureau rejected the minister’s claims, which it said were contrary to facts and tarnished the image of the anti-corruption watchdog. “The statement by Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry can influence and cause hurdles in NAB’s ongoing investigations,” adding that these types of remarks also negated the hard work of its officials
It added that the Bureau had not received any reference for accountability from the Government of Pakistan.
