The Islamabad High Court (IHC) registrar office on Friday (Jan 4) accepted the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) appeals challenging court’s verdict of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s acquittal in Flagship investment case and Al-Azizia reference.
Ealier Nawaz Sharif Nawaz Sharif has filed an appeal in Islamabad High Court (IHC) in which he requested to declare his seven years imprisonment in Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference null and void, and release him on bail. In filed appeal Nawaz had argued that the court’s verdict is grounded in an incorrect interpretation of the law. An accountability court in Islamabad on December 23 sentenced the former prime minister to seven years in prison and a fine if Rs1.5 billion and US$25 million following Al-Azizia steel mills reference while he has been acquitted in the Flagship Investment reference. Nawaz shaif was shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail on December 25.
