The accountability court on Friday (Dec 21) has rejected the request of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to delay the announcement of verdict on Al-Azizia and Hill Metal Establishment. Meanwhile court has accepted fresh documents submitted by the defence side in the Flagship Investment reference against Nawaz Sharif and permitted to make them part of the case record.
NAB Prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi opposed the defense request and said that prosecution had the right to examine the relevant record. The verdict will be announced on December 24, which is coincidentally, Nawaz’s birthday.
The trial against the Sharif family commenced on September 14, 2017 as Nawaz and his sons, Hussain and Hasan, are accused in all three references whereas Maryam and Safdar were accused in the Avenfield reference only.
