Former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has been released from Kot Lakhpat Jail, on Tuesday (March 26) night. A three-member bench of the Supreme Court granted six-week bail to Nawaz Sharif against two surety bonds of 5 million rupees each for medical treatment within the country. Nawaz will not be allowed to leave the country, the chief justice said.
PML-N senior leader Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry received Nawaz Sharif at Kot Lakhpat Jail after presenting the court orders to the jail administration. Before leaving the prison premises, former premier mixed up with the jail staff and thanked the administration.
Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader Nawaz Sharif on Dec. 25 was shifted to Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat prison from Adiala jail. A court in Islamabad on Monday Dec 23 sentenced the former prime minister to seven years in prison following Al-Azizia steel mills reference while he has been acquitted in the Flagship Investment reference. After hearing the decision Nawaz Sharif requested the court to send him in kot lakhpat jail.
