Three times former Prime Minister of Pakistan and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif has been returned back to Kot Lakhpat jail, as his six weeks bail was expired on May 7. Nawaz, accompanied with daughter Maryam Nawaz and nephew Hamza Shehbaz, along with Mohammad Zubair, Talal Chaudhry and other party leaders, reached Kot Lakhpat jail after Iftar.
Maryam was leading the thousands of PML-N workers turned up on the occasion to express solidarity with the party supremo and showered his vehicle with rose petals on way to prison.

Ahead of his arrival at the prison, Nawaz in a video message said that “I do not have words to thank you for the passionate way in which you welcomed me,” he said. “I understand that their passion and prayers will bear fruit, God willing,” the former premier said in his message to his loyalists. “And God willing, this dark night of tyranny will be over. I have no doubt about this.”

He added: “I will be rid of the dark prison cell through their prayers and I know that they understand what I am being punished for.” “You have my heartiest prayers with you, Pakistan Zindabad”.

Earlier the Supreme Court’s three member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa on Friday (May 3) rejected the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s petition seeking permanent bail on medical grounds. Supreme Court also dismisses petition of Nawaz Sharif seeking treatment abroad.
