Convicted former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been asked to clean his room in Kot Lakhpat jail as Mr Sharif’s case is highly sensitive and he could not be allowed to go outside his barracks in the prison, said Inspector General of Prisons Shahid Saleem Baig.
He said “Nawaz Sharif has been asked to maintain his room to serve out the seven-year ‘rigorous’ imprisonment handed down to him in corruption charges”.
A court in Islamabad on Dec ember 23 sentenced the former prime minister to seven years in prison and a fine if Rs1.5 billion and US$25 million following Al-Azizia steel mills reference while he has been acquitted in the Flagship Investment reference. Nawaz shaif was shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail on December 25.
