Nearly five thousand Indian Sikh yatrees on Thursday (June 27) arrived at Lahore via Wagah border to participate in the death anniversary of the renowned Punjabi king and Sikh leader Maharaja Ranjeet Singh.
The Deputy Secretary Evacuee Trust Properties Board Imran Gondal and chairman All Pakistan Gurdawara Parbandhak Committee Tara Singh welcomed them warmly at the Lahore Railway station and the visitants were garlanded. The Sikh yatrees will perform religious rites and worship at various Gurdwaras of Punjab.
The central ceremony of anniversary of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh will be held at Gurdwara Dera Sahib Lahore on June 29 in which hundreds of Sikh yatrees from all over the world including India and local Sikhs will participate.
Earlier last year Pakistan had inaugurated the Kartarpur corridor, to facilitate Sikh Pilgrims to visit their holy places. Kartarpur corridor connects Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur area of Pakistan’s Narowal with Dera Baba Nanak in India’s Gurdaspur District.
