After a high level meeting of Karachi officials, authorities on Thursday (march 22) issued directives to close marriage halls in Karachi by 11pm, warning of action against venues opened after it.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner (Central) Farhan Ghani, Additional Deputy Commissioners of different districts, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) West, senior police officers, municipal officers, cantonment boards’ officers and others.
The meeting decided that the decision would be implemented strictly and a campaign against violators would be launched after two weeks. It decided that marriage halls found guilty of violating the restriction would be sealed off. In order to finalise details of campaign against marriage halls, the meeting would again be convened next week. Authorities said that the decision has been taken for the welfare of the public.
