Following the top court orders,the federal cabinet on Friday (Jan 18) issued No Objection Certificate (NOC) to former Chief of Army Staff General (retd) Raheel Sharif, for foreign employment, sources said. In December, the Supreme Court had stated that the foreign employment of General (retd) Sharif would end with immediate effect if he was not granted a NOC within a month.
According to the detailed judgement issued by the apex court in dual nationality case, , the Supreme Court said that “according to the law laid down by the court, only federal cabinet can grant permission to an ex-government servant to seek or take up employment as an officer or servant of a foreign government”.
The former army chief was appointed to head the Saudi-led military alliance of 41 Islamic countries in May 2017, six months after retiring as Pakistan’s chief of army staff.
