The Opposition on Tuesday (July 9) submitted a resolution, signed by 44 senators, against Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani to Senate Secretary. The 11-member opposition’s anti-government Rahbar Committee had announced consensus to remove the chairman Senate.
The recently formed committee is made up of nine opposition parties and held its first meeting in Islamabad. In the first meeting, it took an oath of confidentiality and formulated a policy to run the anti-government movement. The opposition will mull over its next chairman of the upper house of the legislature on July 11.
Yesterday, the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior politician Raja Zafarul Haq and National Party’s (NP) Hasil Bizenjo held a meeting to analyse the updated state of political affairs to bring a no-confidence motion against the senate chairman.
Earlier, opposition’s Rehber committee has given go ahead for the appointment of Senate Chairman to PML-N, the majority party in the upper house. According to sources, after the approval by the Rehber committee, the PML-N has started contemplating the names of Musaddaq Malik and Raka Zafarul Haq as new chairman Senate.
