64 opposition senators supported the no-confidence motion in the senate against chairman senate Sadiq Sanjrani. The opposition senators showed their majority by standing on their seats. The opposition members have clear majority in the senate. It seems that Sanjrani has lost the majority and going to lose his seat.
As the session began, the chair asked Leader of the Opposition Raja Zafar-ul-Haq to table the motion and later asked members, who are in the favour of the resolution, to rise in the chair. 64 senators showed support to the no-trust motion.
The voting is underway in the Senate to remove the chairman Sanjrani. Senator Muhammad Ali Saif is presiding over the senate session. He read out the instructions and guidelines for the voting.
The leader of the House senator Shibli Faraz earlier claimed the support of 60 senators. While, the opposition needs 53 votes to remove Sanjrani as Senate Chairman, it claims to have support from over 60 lawmakers in the house of 103.
The opposition parties have nominated Hasil Bizenjo as their candidate for the post of Chairman Senate.
