The first ODI of three-match series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played at National Stadium Karachi on Friday (sEP 27). The Islanders will practice today at National Stadium Karachi where the ODIs are scheduled to be played.
Meanwhile, the renovation and ground preparation for the match has been completed in the stadium. High-security arrangements have been placed and three thousand five hundred police personnel will perform their duty around the stadium.
A strict security cordon has been placed near the players of the Pakistan and Sri Lanka cricket teams in Karachi. No unauthorised individual is allowed to go near the teams. Even Pakistan’s players are not allowed to leave without an official escort.
The players of both sides have been instructed to inform authorities beforehand and leave in groups, in case they wish to leave the hotel premises. The Sri Lanka team has arrived in Pakistan for a One-day International (ODI) series after a hiatus of 10 years. Keeping in mind the previous terror incident in Lahore, the authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safety of the players involved.
The Sri Lanka team was attacked in Lahore in 2009 and since then most international teams have refused to tour the South Asian country, leaving Pakistan to play nearly all their “home” games in the United Arab Emirates.
