Recent Aids outbreak in Pakistan has spread panic in the country as over 600 people, mostly children, have been tested HIV positive in Sindh province. Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza says a ten-member team of experts from World Health Organization (WHO) will visit Pakistan within few days to ascertain causes of spreading HIV virus in Larkana region of Sindh.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Sunday, he said fifty thousand kits have been ordered to conduct screening of HIV Aids patients. He said the federal government is in touch with the provincial health department to provide all out assistance to overcome the alarming situation.

He said reused syringes and unsafe blood transfusion are apparently the main cause of spreading this disease. The Special Assistant said Prime Minister Imran Khan will make a big announcement within two weeks to revamp the health sector.
